In addition to a bunch of spring craft shows, we've been busy adding retail partners. A couple of months ago, West Elm invited us to participate in the West Elm (WE) Local program. WE Local partners with artists and makers that sell products that WE customers might like. It helps connect WE to the communities where they do business, and helps artists and makers expand the reach of their products. Its truly a win-win! We got to know one of our WE store by selling our kits during one of their pop-up events. WE employees have been amazing. They really want their store to be a part of the community and they genuinely want to see local makers succeed. After a couple of pop-ups the WE Baltimore, the store manager recommend us for WE Local, which enables WE stores in our region to buy and sell our kits wholesale. You can now find a selection of our kits at West Elm Baltimore and West Elm DC!
We are so thankful to WE for working with small businesses like ours. Having WE as a wholesale partner has helped us to connect with other wholesale buyers. By June our kits will be in three new shops - one in Frederick, MD, another in Chesapeake, VA, and one in Denver, CO! If you have a shop and are interested in carrying our modern paint by number kits, shoot us an email ([email protected]), We'd love the opportunity to work with you.

So I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned that we also have an Etsy store. We have all of the same kits there, for the same prices. Its just another way to reach craft loving people that may like our kits. If you are not familiar with Etsy, it is the best known online market place for handmade goods. Etsy does a lot to promote and support handmade makers. Recently they launched a contest to help a couple of lucky businesses. The grand prize of $10,000 is intended to help a small handmade business grow. We've entered, and if we win we will use the money to help purchase a substrate printer. This fancy, and very expensive, printer would enable us to offer larger kit sizes (beyond 8 x10) and produce more kits in a shorter period of time. Unfortunately, this contest isn't based on merit, or compelling story, or having a unique product. The winning shop is the one with the most votes.
So if you like our kits and like the idea of supporting a small handmade business, consider casting a vote for Wehgo - http://wshe.es/6itjLxdh. Did you know that Wehgo makes custom paint by number kits? We can pretty much make any picture or design into a kit. Recently we made a custom kit of a historic home for a customer in San Antonio, TX. She sent us a few different pictures of the house and asked if we could add an American flag to the front porch. I used the pictures of the house to create the kit digital design, then converted that image into a paint by number pattern. I love the way it turned out and I can't wait to take on more custom projects. If you are interested in a custom kit, hop on over to our Etsy shop for more info and pricing.
