We did two shows this past weekend! On Saturday we were in Chambersburg, PA for the Apple Fest and on Sunday I was in Kensington, MD for the Kensington Fall Festival. The weather was beautiful both days. Saturday was a little bit chillier than we expected in the morning, but we were dressed for it. Both shows had good sized crowds. We had the chance to meet with several other crafters and makers at both shows. Our booth buddy at Apple Fest was Grant House Press, a husband and wife team from New York. They make really lovely cards and other paper goods. I love that their cards some how feel vintage and modern at the same time. Our booth buddy at the Kensington Fall Festival, Dove Hollow Designs, sells a variety of handmade home goods. The owner Tammy does't sell online, but her work can been seen at craft shows and festivals through out the DC area. Those are REAL stems on those velvet pumpkins!
We are in Richmond VA this weekend for a Pumpkin Festival then we have a little time off to gear up for the holidays! I'm busy designing and we plan to release two Christmas kits and one Hanukkah paint by number kit. Our Halloween kits will retire at the end of the month - so if you like them buy them while you can. The Fairfax Fall Festival was one of the shows we were the most excited about. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It rained all day. Thankfully, it wasn't cold and there were periods of mostly just drizzle - and a surprising number of people came out to shop. We did better that I expected, considering the weather, and I met some really nice people ( I was working this show solo). We've been pretty lucky to not have been impacted by rain at any of our shows to date. We have three more outdoor shows, then we are indoors for several holiday events. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be working on our indoor display. We hang a lot of things on our tent and we can't do that inside so I'm working on a few creative solutions. This week's Booth Buddy, Roseside Market, wasn't located near us, but we go to know each other a little bit after stopping by one another's booths during the festival. The owner, Kathleen, is a teacher and a mom who somehow finds time to make and sell beautiful scarves and jewelry. I loved her booth aesthetic and the fabrics she picked for her scarves. Kathleen was wearing this orange, tan and black plaid during the festival. It was so cute! Next weekend we are going to be in Chambersburg, PA and Kensington, MD! Fingers crossed the weather cooperates! Oh and we just released a new coupon! Use SPOOKY16 to get free shipping on all of our kits through October 31, 2016.
We kicked off October with the Takoma Park Street Festival. The sun was out, the weather was mild, the crowds were friendly, and we had our best show yet! Its so fun to watch people respond to our kits. We definitely have a few crowd favorites and we sold out of at least three kits! There were so many unique vendors at this show! It really had something for everyone. One of the booths I was immediately drawn to was Wild Valleigh. The owner Leigh, creates adorable plush creations using bright fabrics in a variety of textures. In addition to her adorable creations, Leigh's booth was very cute. I'm a sucker for vintage suitcases and we use one in our booth too. You can find Leigh and her creations on Facebook, www.facebook.com/wildvalleigh. For the past couple of shows we've been collecting emails for our newsletter. Customers who join the list will be the first to know when we release a new kit, receive occasional coupons, and get the inside scoop on which shows we'll be attending. You can sign up for the newsletter here.
Next weekend we are headed to the Fairfax Fall Festival. Come out and see us if you are in the area! |
